What You Should Know
The Pre-Show Routine
Standard pre-show flow: customer orders from the subway or walk over, the bag is staged at our counter when they arrive, they pick up, smoke their pre-roll between our store and the venue (off the immediate venue exterior, on a residential side street), and walk into doors clear-headed. Total elapsed time from order to inside-the-venue is about 30 minutes. This pattern works for almost every show on the Irving Plaza calendar.
Show-Night Smoking Etiquette
New York public consumption rules prohibit smoking inside venues and immediately outside them on the venue's primary sidewalk. The Irving Plaza primary exterior (Irving Place between 14th and 15th Streets) gets enforcement attention from venue staff and occasional NYPD. The right move is to smoke on a residential side street nearby, 16th Street between Irving Place and 3rd Avenue is a typical choice, or Stuyvesant Square one block north for a longer pre-show pause with a bench. Avoid smoking directly outside the doors, the bouncers and the city both notice.
Strain Selection For Show Type
For high-energy bands and concert sets, limonene-forward sativa pre-rolls support the standing-and-cheering format. Florette sativa singles and Rolling Green sun-grown sativa multi-packs work well.
For introspective singer-songwriter or jazz sets, hybrid pre-rolls with myrcene-plus-caryophyllene profiles support seated attention. Hudson Cannabis hybrid singles in this register. Skip heavy indica before a long set, you will fade. Skip infused or distillate-laced before a high-energy show, the smoke can pull focus from the music to your own body.
The After-Show Walk Home
Irving Plaza shows let out around 11 pm most nights. The walk from the venue back to Gramercy or Union Square apartments takes 5 to 15 minutes depending on address. A 1 g indica pre-roll along that walk is the natural after-show ritual for many of our regulars. Our Thursday-through-Saturday midnight close means you can also pickup an after-show edible or tincture if you need to extend the wind-down at home. Order on the walk back, the bag is ready when you arrive.
Webster Hall And Other Venue Walks
Webster Hall (125 E 11th Street) is also walkable from our store, about 8 minutes south. The pre-show pickup flow works similarly to Irving Plaza, just with a slightly longer walk. Bowery Ballroom is 15 minutes south, the walk runs through the East Village and is pleasant on most nights. Music Hall of Williamsburg requires a subway transfer and shifts the strategy toward delivery rather than pickup. For Manhattan venues within 20-minute walking range, pickup is almost always faster than delivery.
